24 Hours of Lemons, High Plains Drifter 2023 3 Days of Breaking our Car so that we can Spend time fixin' it Our lemons race "weekend" began Thursday Night when brought the car from its winter home down to our garage, In the weeks prior we had been buttoning up final race readiness punch items like electrical wiring for new lighting requirements and accessory wiring to run things like iPads, radios, and a suit cooler. In the most inauspicious of beginnings, some final testing before loading it on the trailer revealed our coolant boiling and overflowing the bubbler tank. After arriving at our garage we began our first marathon repair/diagnosis session attempting to figure out why the engine was overheating. Eventually, after many cycles of bleeding the cooling system of air, the problem was resolved, but not before we had frantically run out to purchase a new head gasket and water pump replacement kit. ...
